Regional luxury lifestyle publisher athome in Fairfield County magazine celebrates the best in home design with its annual competition, the A-List Awards. This year, VanderHorn Architects is pleased to be the recipient of four awards!

A collage of four images: a bright kitchen with large windows above a sink, a pristine bathroom with a bathtub, a spacious house with a front garden, and a home office with a desk and large windows.

#1: Seaside Shingle

A large, elegant house with a stone and shingle exterior, featuring multiple peaked roofs and dormer windows. Warm lights illuminate the porch and windows. Its set against a backdrop of tall trees and a clear blue sky, with a circular cobblestone driveway in the foreground.

The big winner of the A-List event was our Seaside Shingle home in the category of Traditional Architecture Greater Than 7,000 Square Feet. This project is a welcoming double-gable shingle style home, which glamorously swings into a private dockside paradise above the harbor.

#2: Hilltop English Country

A bright kitchen features white cabinets with a marble backsplash. A wooden island with an ornate geometric light fixture is at the center, topped with vegetables. Wooden beams adorn the ceiling. Natural light streams through large windows, illuminating the hardwood floor.

In the category of Kitchen Design: Trad/Classic, our Hilltop English Country project took home the prize. The waterfront English cottage style residence features a beautiful custom kitchen that combines both rustic and refined finishes, including the metal range hood and painted cabinetry with stained character-grade hardwood floors, natural wood island, and beamwork. A natural stained hutch featuring a bar sink and integrated refrigerator & freezer is fashioned like a piece of custom-built furniture against the painted white cabinetry.

#4: Sun-filled Renovation

DVHA was also honored with an A-List award in category of Office/Library for our Sun-filled Renovation. This recently completed renovation includes an office transformation that inspires productivity. The space has come a long way from its previous life as an irregular room created by the space between a pair of pedimented dormers. By building out the roof, our addition is now a generous and light-filled office space.
